Last weekend we hosted get-together of folks from the workplace, catered by Dale. Next time we have a big gathering in our home, we'll know just who to call. The set up was swift, professional and friendly, quickly adapting to the particulars of our kitchen and dining room. The food beautiful to look at, presented attractively - and utterly delicious. Out of a couple dozen people, I only spotted one who did not go back for seconds. There was plenty of variety for everyone, including those with food restrictions - and the general feeling was one of classy abundance. The pacing was expertly handled, with clean dishes replacing those once used, as we sat or perched around the house. And when everyone was finished (not before), the clean-up seemed to be invisibly accomplished: the rhythm of the gathering was not interrupted. Left-overs were packed up deftly (and securely) - some for us to enjoy in the coming week, the rest for a few other folks to take away. The two women who handled the affair almost slipped away without my having a chance to thank them, so quiet was their exit. After deciding to get married, the best decision my daughter and her now husband made was hiring Catering by Dale for their wedding. Susan and her staff did an extraordinary job. Using her skills as a wedding planner, Susan assisted the couple with the ceremony at the Ira Allen Chapel. She and her staff then executed an impeccable reception at the UVM Alumni House. From cocktail hour through dessert, guests were treated royally. The food was delicious. It was tastefully prepared, beautifully plated and efficiently served. Our entire experience with Catering by Dale, from start to finish, was personal, professional and wonderful. They are a team of experienced wedding professionals who go above and beyond just a food and beverage service. In addition to their delicious food and seamless service, Susan also provided wedding coordination services for us leading up to and day-of our wedding. I was so confident with everything that they had planned that I was actually able to show up and enjoy the party as a guest and not be worried about the details. Not only is the team organized and professional but the food is incredible and beautifully plated, matching the quality of a five-star restaurant experience. Last month, I had the pleasure of orchestrating a landmark birthday celebration for my wife. A dozen guests from different phases of her life - some from nearby, some from afar - gathered in our home to honor her, and to enjoy each other's company. I wanted the food to be delicious, the service transparent, and the evening to be one to remember. And I wanted to be free to enjoy the evening to its full I knew just the caterer to call. A few years back, we'd hosted a very different type of occasion - an office party, and had hired Catering By Dale for the event. They did such a fine job that I asked them to make a proposal for this quite different, more intimate occasion. Two emails and one phone conversation later, we had all the details wrapped up. Alert to favorite foods, sensitive to possible dietary restrictions, and ready to prepare them all with flair, Susan who oversaw the preparation of our party submitted a mouthwatering proposed menu, backed up by alternate choices, just in case. We could save by pouring our own wine and using our own dishes, she counseled, or she could provide them. The only thing we didn't see on the menu was the birthday desert my wife longed for - Italian Cream Cake - to which Susan agreed without a blink. The Chef, Shawn, and Caroline, the server, arrived a couple of hours before dinner was to be served. They worked very quietly and efficiently, with very pleasing results, and soon the smells of cooking beef and shrimp began to permeate the air, even as a variety of made-on-the spot hors d'oeuvres began to fill the platters, circulated by Caroline. These two were expert at going with the rhythm of the party, scarcely needing a nod or a smile to move things forward or slow them down a bit. Each course of the meal was a satisfying success, and admired accordingly. When, at last, we cut into the birthday cake, it was all we could have hoped for. (A little sleuthing revealed they'd baked a sample version in advance, just to be sure.) When an interrogative eyebrow asked if the feast was done, and a nod confirmed it, Shawn and Caroline cleaned everything up, packaged, labeled and stored any and all leftovers, left all the dishes washed and the place absolutely spotless. They were so quiet in their slipping away that I almost missed the chance to say thanks and farewell. The preparation was thoughtful, the service virtually transparent, the food delicious, and the whole occasion a total success, with never a moment of concern. Catering by Dale is a truly professional outfit. The on-site staff is young, energetic, and skilled; the management is thoughtful and inventive. When all is said and done, you'll have a delightful occasion, quite free of any fuss to host. You couldn't do better.

The surprise birthday party was a huge success! My Dad was completely surprised and quite happy to see everyone. I can't say enough about the cuisine! Everyone thought it was fabulous, as did I! A couple of the particular ones spoken about were the crab cakes, mini meatloaf's and pulled pork! As for Cher, well she is just fantastic! She is just as I remembered from my last catered event with CBD. Incredibly nice, attentive and so easy to work with, thank you so much Cher!!

Last minute idea what to give to our employees, contacted CBD spoke with Susan to see what she could do for us. Susan and her staff rocked out 110 Sheppard Pies and homemade chocolate chip cookies within days’ notice. The service was outstanding brining this order right to our work. The food was delicious only the best ingredients. If you are thinking of having any event catered I would recommend Susan and her staff at CBD you will enjoy working with this team and the food is amazing.

We have absolutely loved both of our holiday meals curated by CBD. The Thanksgiving meal was perfectly prepared, easy to reheat, absolutely delicious and so much gourmet food for two that we could eat many leftovers. The beet terrine is so delicious. You must get it! Our Christmas meal was equally fabulous . The filet was so tender, the horseradish sauce worth everyone fighting over the last bit, abs the lobster bisque so full of lobster I’m not sure I’ll ever order any other! Did I mention the beet terrine ?! Had to have that again. We will be placing our tapas order ASAP. Thank you CBD!

It was a huge relief to hire Susan and her team to cater our company's annual summer outing at the Burlington Surf Club a few weeks ago. In this time of COVID-19, I fretted about how we could pull off a successful event, serve good food, give our employees a relaxed & memorable time while still keeping them safe and socially distant. In the weeks and days leading up to the outing, Susan listened to my list of "needs" and worked with me to create a menu that included a Grab 'n go Slider station and a variety of salads that were not only delicious, but also a big hit with our employees. Did I mention Sous Chef Shawn's Buffalo Chicken Dip? It was very tasty and had just enough zing to it to keep us on our toes!
Susan was always available to answer my questions or to suggest options when I needed them. On the day of the outing the skies threatened rain, but not to be thwarted Susan met me early at the BSC to review the layout and walk me through the set-up. When her team arrived they immediately went to work setting up a canopy and serving stations before the arrival of our employees. Even when Susan was called away to tend to another event, Shawn and his team seamlessly picked up the ball and kept our event moving forward until all of our employees had eaten their fill. I highly recommend Susan, Shawn and Catering by Dale to anyone wishing to host a company event in the future!
